As you know Mel and I were in and out of a gazillion thrift stores and an antique store or two. And I love old things...can't help it, nostalgia just gets me. But I do try to only purchase things I can actually use. Heaven knows I don't need any more brick-a-brack. (my mother always makes fun of me for it) Accepting that little wooden carving below (I couldn't help it he was only .75) I got all useful things.
I picked up the two plates at a junky little second hand store ($1 each). They aren't vintage they're from 1986 but the color pallet and subject matter reminded me of a tasteful version of the 20s so I snatched them up before anyone else could. The trivet came from the same store (also $1) and it just looked like a metal doily to me (which I've been obsessed with lately--crafty tutorials to come). And the tea is just plain tasty!Cute pillow case from DI. It was a last minute grab as I was rushing back to the register to pay for our stuff. I can't decide whether to incorporate it into a quilt or leave it be. Thoughts?
Been looking for a cool cross for some time. Found this little jem nestled into the "crap" section of an antique store. Even if I hadn't found it, rotating the trays and looking at all the odds and ends was totally worth it. The Afghan started out at about 15 dollars, by the time I brought it up to the register (with a $2 locket) the total was $6. It totally pays to stick around and chit chat with the proprietor of small shops. I like to think of it as the friendly discount. Anyway! that's it for now. I'll have a free pattern up by the end of the day tomorrow (hopefully--cross your fingers).
