oh for the love of facial hair!

My most distinguished lamp. Those hairs are gray cause he's one of those salt and pepper hunks, you know the kind I'm talking about: Cloony, Grant, Ford, Selleck, I could go on... (Do you think he needs a bow tie or a necktie to complete the look?) The idea was to give this poor generic Walmart lamp a sense of identity and I think it worked. Experimented with different things like glasses and such but this suggested a person more than any of the others. TO DO THIS: 1. Pick an embroidery or cross stitch design you like. and size it out to fit onto your lampshade well. Keep in mind curved lampshades will work too. Transfer your design onto a piece of paper. 2. Tape the paper where you want it on the lampshade and punch through the styrene with either a thick sharp needle or something similar. DONT use an Exacto knife. it'll give you slits instead of holes. PINE CONES: the cuties of the forest

IT'S OFFICIAL!!!! I'm addicted to pine cones! ($85-ish dollars a piece for these ceramic cones) Not that I'm crushing them and smoking them or anything. I just love them as a motif. They are all over my life right now. And what better time to fall in love with them. You know the best thing about them? They're free! All you have to do is bend over and pinch your fingers together, straiten back up and shove it in your pocket. Trees are so generous....they don't even complain when you steal their offspring. I have a tiny one I'm making into some sort of jewelry (that's gonna take some figuring though). And I have one my boyfriend drew for me to go on my clock face. LOVE ME! - presser foot pad tutorial

bah! quicky tutorial for this friday! Time is so short! It's for a presser foot pad (If that isn't painfully obvious already). Do you have one? Cause you should. You know how when you stand at the sink doing dishes for long enough that your fingers get all pruney and your feet start to ache? Well imagine how your poor "A" foot feels! Give him something to rest on....poor guy. (your foot should be in the down position when not in use by the way....in case you didn't know) HOP TO IT! It only takes 15 minutes (tops!) to put one together. What you'll need: - Two pieces of scrap fabric about 2" x 4" or whatever you like best. I like mine a little bigger so it's harder to loose. - 1 piece of high loft batting about the same size as your scraps OR 2 pieces low loft batting OR 1 piece of low loft batting folded in half, etc. - Contrasting thread (unless you don't like that, then match it. see if I know...or care if I did know) What to do: 1.
