Minor Mishaps--learn from my stupidity

They're there to teach us patience and problem solving skills right? So the first mistake isn't that obvious, but Those rail fence pieces are supposed to be about an inch and a half wider than they are. I wasn't paying attention when I cut out the white strips (which are wider than the brown ones) so I did them the same as the brown. Didn't figure that out till I had them together and tired to attach them to the squares. I had to go back and trim down all th e dumb little squares to make it work. SUCH a pain! So once more class, we learn that you should measure five or six times and then cut once.
Although to tell the truth I think I almost like this look better. The size is more pleasing relative to the diamond shapes. So it was a happy accident all in all, but I got lucky this time.

This was a lovely blunder is from a while ago. Just a reminder to ALWAYS check and make sure your backing isn't folding under on the edges. I certainly wasn't going to pick out all those zig zags so I cut REALLY close to the stitching, pulled it away (like tear away paper) and picked out the stragglers. It was painfully slow and added at least another hour to this project.

So just take it slow and make sure everything is in order. It's like looking both ways before crossing the road. Make this second nature! It'll save you lots of pain later.
