(how's that for some alliteration?)
So a few weekends ago Mom and I were halfheartedly yard saling and stopped at the tail end of one. Everything was pretty much packed up, but I did manage to snag a cute white and navy blue canvas tote for $0.25. (Take that L. L. Bean!) It was too plain so I whipped out my embroidery pattern binder and Voila!
The original pattern is from Jenny Hart of Sublime Stitching. It was a freebie on her (now canceled) flicker account. As seen below:
However, I didn't really like her head...too masculine for my taste and the hat just reminded me of Donald Duck. So I decided to go in a more tropical direction. Really all I changed was her head and hair so credit still goes to Jenny for an awesome design. Anyway this is my version:
(stitching down into the pocket was SUCH a pain and I had to pick out all her legs and part of an arm cause I messed it up. I HATE redoing stuff! But it was worth it)
I'll put up my modified pattern for download as soon as I get home (don't have a scanner here) and pictures of it complete with pocket lining (which I haven't done yet). I can't wait to hit a beach (any beach) and pull sunscreen and lukewarm water out of this baby. Just wish I was brave enough to wear a similar swimsuit....
