So this is one of the many reasons I haven't been updating every other day like I was hoping to. Picked up this Thonet Bentwood Chair (originally designed in 1859, although this one is from the 1980s) for 4 bucks. It was revolutionary at it's time because of construction method and because it was one of the first consumer constructed pieces of furniture. It consists of 6 separate pieces and a few bolts and screws. (Ikea eat your heart out) The design is largely unchanged since it's creation and became wildly popular with other architects, designers and artists. To learn more about it check here.
Anyway sanded the beast down and taped off that design (which I agonized over by the way) and spray painted the whole thing a really beautiful teal. It looks flipping amazing! It's not quite done yet, but I'll get a picture up when I'm finished (along with some alternate seat designs that you can use if you'd like). So that's that. I'll have more project posts in a day or so. laters!
